Jason Becker Signature Distortion Pedal

Jason Becker- legendary guitarist from Cacophony & David Lee Roth… what can you say about this guy that hasn’t been said a million times? So lets just let the pedal do the talking.

The Jason Becker Distortion was the talk of the 2009 Winter NAMM show, and culminated in the pedal being listed in Guitar Player Magazines Best Of NAMM issue.

The Jason Becker Distortion is a 100% hand wired analog emulation of the British amp used by Jason during the Perpetual Burn recording sessions, with added gain and a boost channel. The additional gain came from Jason telling us that he really enjoyed the higher gain sounds he was using later in his career from a newer amplifier.

The end result is 2 pedals in one: A distortion pedal recreating Jason’s burning distorted tone, and a meaty boost pedal that can be used by itself or in conjunction with the distortion to send your guitar to tonal nirvana.

Below is a user-submitted clip of the Becker demonstrating its flexibility. All guitar tones were recorded through the Jason Becker Distortion-

Features:

  • Pre Amp Volume, Gain, Master Volume and Burn (boost) controls
  • Ultra flexible 3 band tone stack modeled after Jasons amps
  • Original artwork painted by Jason’s father, Gary Becker
  • Operates on a standard 9 volt (negative tip) BOSS style adapter
  • True Hardwire Bypass with grounded input for noise free operation
  • Stomp switch built to withstand years of hard stomping shows
  • Durable aluminum housing
  • Super-Bright LED’s for easy onstage identification
  • Proudly built by hand in Crossroads, Texas

Knob colors/configuration may vary

Guitar Player Magazine featured the Jason Becker Distortion in their ‘Cool Gear For 2009′ NAMM wrap up issue:

This pedal kicks ass. DONT PLAY IT WITH A LINE 6. All the controlls work great and your desired tone is easily achieved. It got great attack when you pick notes but it isnt over the top and ice pick sounding. Your riffs will never muddy up. This thing is damn versatile. Check it out. Buy one. Support Jason Becker, the one guitar player that makes you wanna shoot yourself when you try and learn his songs, and then read his story and feel so bad about ever wanting to shoot yourself. He’s a true inspiration. So support him. And the pedal kicks ass. So its a win win.

WHAT i can't use this pedal with my Bogner XTC. this pedal was designed to be used with solid state amps? Jason used tube amps Marshall and Carvin.

    • admin says

Right, it was designed to work BEST in front of a solid state amp. It WILL work in front of a tube amp, and it will sound quite nice. But… again was designed to give guys that big Marshall tone without the big tube amp.

  • John says

Why shouldn`t I play it with a Line 6?I have a 30W spider and so far it works good with everything I`ve tried!

    • Dennis says

We’ve had mixed results with the Line 6 digital amps. If you’re happy with the tones you’re getting, than rock on, my friend!!

      Dennis

  • Evan says

So this pedal won't sound good with my Line 6 Spider?? :(

    • Dennis says

It will sound good, you just need to take some time experimenting with it.
Keep the volume output of the pedal low- you WILL NOT be able to fully use the boost feature. This is a limitation with digital amps, not the pedal.

  • JEBSTER says

I would love to hear all these meraculious tones first hand,I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I hope it sounds good threw my Haze 40. It's a tube amp. Has anyone experenced it threw a tube amp? And if so Which one?

  • mrjellystone says

I've used it with Peavey/Egnater and Blackstar tube based amps…This pedal smokes in all!!! I don't do digital so I can't attest to that but I'm a tube guy and this pedal rocks the MIC!!!! Dennis, I anxiously await your next gain monster creation. In the meantime, my Cooley HG, Monster fuzz and JB Perpetual burn will have to keep my tubes warm…..F***** PROTONE ROCKS!!!!
